Gen X and Seven Shores Present the Buy a Goat Project

GENERATION X VIDEO and SEVEN SHORES CAFÉ are both very proud to be an active part of this community. Both stores believe strongly in giving Uptown Waterloo access to the best in art, culture, food and produce, and both strive to create a positive place that the people in our neighborhood can share together.

In the spirit of making a difference, these two like-minded businesses have worked together to launch a summer fundraising program with OXFAM Canada. This program gives Uptown Waterloo a chance to raise money and awareness within our own community through giving aid to one less fortunate than ours.

GENERATION X VIDEO and SEVEN SHORES CAFÉ aim to raise enough money to donate a herd of TEN GOATS to a community in need. This gift will bring a significant change to many families – both immediately, and to future generations through nutritional self-sufficiency.

WHY BUY A GOAT?

OXFAM Unwrapped is an alternative to most donation programs in that it offers a selection of gifts specifically designed to be more than just a one-time hand-out. Each object is chosen because it can help with the independent renewal of a community in need, making its benefits last well beyond the initial donation.

One such gift is a healthy goat.

* Goats produce a ton (literally) of nutritious milk each year. This milk is a vital to a starving child’s fight for survival and can greatly help single mothers living in poverty.

* Goat manure fertilizes and enriches soil, greatly improving crop yield. This helps a family produce their own food, both for eating and selling. This self-sufficiency is vital to the renewal of a community.

* The first female kid to be born to a donated goat is given to another family in need, passing along the benefits exponentially and bolstering the community even further.

HOW OUR GOAT PROJECT WORKS

STEP ONE
When you purchase a delicious Seven Shores Café panini, you will receive a single “Billy Buck”.

STEP TWO
Simply hand in your Billy Buck when you rent a movie at Generation X Video. For each Billy Buck returned, the store will donate $1 towards the Buy-A-Goat project.

A HERD OF TEN GOATS COSTS $580 (or 580 Billy Bucks) WE HOPE THAT TOGETHER, WE CAN REACH THIS GOAL!

If you do not like tasty sandwiches and/or movies but would like to donate regardless, Gen X has a donation box at the main counter.
